whats the difference between having a hobby your obsessed with and being addicted?

Aaron S asked:

We all have hobbies. At least some. But if we have something we are interested in, what if we get so obsessed with it that it affects our life? Is it the same thing as an addiction? Being Obsessed with having an Obsession and Being addicted, do they mean the same thing or is there a difference? Sometimes I wonder if it is ok to have a hobby like with being into music and video games and surfing the Internet or collecting rare old games and rare old cds and if that can become addictive?

The body has five senses: Sight, Hearing, Touch, Smell, and Taste. What hobbies do you think can help improve one of these five senses?

I know there are plenty of hobbies that build intelligence but I am even more interested in those that build the senses since our senses seem to dull as we age.

Do you know the value of hobbies for children?

When you run out of ideas for toys at Christmas, do you think of stimulating interest in a hobby for children? Hobbies add a dimension to life which improves it for the long haul. Interests begun in childhood can form the basis for a lifelong pleasurable hobby, or even a career. Having a hobby reduces boredom, which gets more and more dangerous as the teen years approach. I don’t know any statistics (maybe you do?), but I would like to hear how others, especially parents, feel about wholesome hobbies.

How should I handle an executive who has a hobby of trying to analyze other people?

Boss man goes to counseling monthly and has for years. It’s a hobby. Now, if folks who work for him don’t agree with him, he tends to start throwing around phrases like emotional intelligence and other amateur analysis. Problem is, he also tends to gossip. How might people handle a guy like this?

What allows a person to enjoy daily activities and hobbies more than the next person?

There are some people who just love to read, play music, write, draw, or do some other activity. Why is it that allows some people to explode with life when doing such things while others hardly enjoy it at all?
if you want to answer with passion, where does that come from in this case?

Can repeatedly doing a hobby you dislike lead to you liking it?

Todd M asked:

I know most people are going to answer that if you don’t like doing something then you shouldn’t do it, but I already understand that answer and don’t need to hear it again.

Can repeatedly doing a hobby lead to you liking it? It is very easy to dislike doing anything new when the results don’t meet your expectations. So does sticking out a hobby even though you don’t like it ever lead to good results or is it more damaging than helpful?
